September

Compared to the last couple months, September was pretty mellow.

It kicked off with a visit from my Mom.  She had a flight she needed to use and decided to make a short weekend visit. She has never been to "the cabin" so it only seemed appropriate to spend our weekend there. We had a great time relaxing, cooking, drinking wine, playing cards with the my in-laws and just soaking up the short time together.

Kara has never seen Moose!

Next up, was celebrating Mimi's (mother-in-law) birthday. We treated her to a dinner out at Eva's (one of our fav's).

The following weekend my co-worker Shelley and Randy's daughter Sage walked in the American Heart Association "Stroke Walk"  I'm on the "stroke team" at work so it was pretty humbling to see some former patients out and about walking and some even running.  Sage is an absolutely adorable 13 year old who you would think is going on 21. We got to hear all about her life, which was quite fun.

Josh and our friends Sara and Matt have season tickets to the Pioneer theater plays this season.  The first play of the season was "In the Heights" We had a great night out with good friends.

We had another roommate living with us for the last two months. Kara is from Kentucky and was here doing her PT internship at the University Hospital. We had to say goodbye to her. We really enjoyed having her and look forward to keeping in touch with her.

This one is for you Kara

Finally, of course we had to find time to fit in possibly one last camping trip for the season. My in-laws camp every year in Arches National Park. We were invited to join them this year, so we made the 4 hour drive to Arches and had an amazing time that we hope to join for years to come.

Whirlwind of an August

August was full of family, hiking, cabin time, sports watching, a home brewers 1st place ribbon, and of course LaborDAVE weekend!

Early August we hiked Hughes Canyon:

My dad came for an extended weekend trip as well in August. We of course, hiked Blood's Lake and spent some time at "the cabin" It was relaxing as always. We were also planted on the couch for the Olympics for much of the two weeks as well.  It was great as always to visit and see my dad.  Look forward to our next visit!

We go to about one Bee's game a year. We ended up getting there with our great friends Sara and Matt and Robyn and Andy.
The Boys

As you all know, my darling husband has been brewing his own beer for close to 2 years now.  He has brewed 37 batches to date.  This is the second year he has entered the homebrewing competition. He entered a beer in the Pale Ale and Wheat beer category.  He won a BLUE RIBBON for his Wheat Ale and score a 45/50 on his Pale Ale, which was more than likely in the top 5.  There were over 400 entries into the competition.   He is incredibly passionate about brewing and I'm very proud of him!  (My quality control is paying off)

Justin (my brother in-law) and his girlfriend (Melissa) were in town the following weekend for a visit from Washington D.C. Of course, what better place to meet than "the cabin" It has been scorching hot this summer, so the cabin has been a great relief from the heat.  The East Coaster's swept the horse shoe tournament!

We also hit a Utah vs. Colorado game. The Utes pulled out the "W". Go Utes!  I will always be a duck to my core, but it's fun to cheer on the Utes.

Finally, August went out with a bang with our inaugural LaborDAVE Weekend. Dave Matthews Band plays a 3 night concert in an amphitheater and we camp with thousands of people at the Gorge in George, Washington.  It's like nothing else. We had a GREAT group this year. It was Zach (my brother-in-law), Mikel, Nicole, Autumn (LaborDAVE virgin), Jonathan (my co-worker/friend and also LaborDAVE virgin) and myself and Josh.

Jon still thinks the "pink bunny" has a story = )  (he'll never know)
