July in the blink of an eye...

The festivities of July started out with a bang!

Our neighborhood has a killer parade 4th of July morning. It's all our neighbors locally. We all "parade" down the street and enjoy the start to a fun day.  Josh, and I along with Robyn and Andy decided to host a pre-parade french toast breakfast this year. Thanks to every one who came and paraded and ate with us. We always enjoying the party!

We also floated the Weber river with Clybe, Bobby, Ash and company. It was a great way to spend a HOT day. Our holiday was finished with fireworks in the Campbell backyard, games, beer and good friends.

As mentioned in earlier posts, this is the summer of hiking the peaks of Salt Lake. I have been preparing for a backpacking trip later in July so we hiked Ferguson Canyon. I packed my backpack half full and kick my butt up 3 miles over 4,000 feet of elevation gain. Felt like we were literally going straight up the mountain.  We also hiked up Mt. Aire with Robyn and Andy. It was a blast but we got drenched, which was a welcome relief from the HOT HOT days of this summer. Coming down was a bit of an adventure, slipping and sliding through the mud. It was a perfect!

I have been looking forward to Babes in the woods for years/months.  My dearest friend Brenda and her amazing family and friends organize an all ladies backpacking trip every year. The location changes, the memories and adventures are always guaranteed. This was the 19th annual trip and we would be hiking Yosemite! I flew into Reno and drove to Yosemite with Brenda. We ended up hiking Mono Pass, finishing at Summit Lake at 10,500 feet elevation. The hike was about 4 miles. There ended up being 12 babes, which was a small but perfect number. We set up camp on Friday and hiked out on Sunday morning. Unfortunately many of the women live at sea level so we were challenged by altitude sickness, but the women pulled through and were tough as nails. It was an experience of a lifetime and I hope to join for many years to come.

Thank you so much for setting aside some time for me. I LOVE you all dearly!!

Finally, a summer is never really summer without some cabin time. Charles and Diane and Josh have been working their butts of to do some major upgrades and re-models. They are insulating the loft and throwing away and moving loads of old furniture from Diane's mom. Despite all the hard work there is always time for gin and tonics and much needed relaxation.

Another month of too much fun and memories! Thanks for every one that provide us with so much love and adventure. You mean the world to us!
